In the beginning of 2011, Lady Gaga had released her Born This Way Album and I fell in love with the song "Judas". It appeared Lady Gaga would become the first artist to have three consecutive song of the year awards. And then something happened, I rediscovered Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite album.
It is not uncommon for me to purchase an album, listen to it a couple of times and forget about it. I had done that with Aphrodite. "All the Lovers" was a cool song and I probably did like "Get Outta My Way" but it did not get my attention. The song, however, was played constantly at the bar I hung out at, and I could not get it out of my head.
"Get Outta My Way" is almost pop perfection as Minogue sweetly sings telling her ex off. Interestingly, this song actually did better in the United States than Europe, as it was #1 on the Club Play Charts.
Gaga may not have got her third song in a row, but Minogue did accomplish a feat. She is the artist who had the longest gap between winning the award.
By the way, the bottom version is the video that was shown at the club - a gay club, go figure. :)
