dynasty Episode 54 - Fathers and Sons

Time is all screwy in Denver.   First, we have Jeff and Kirby sneak back into the mansion.  Why are they sneaking back in?  Didn't Jeff go to get Kirby so it should come as no surprise that the two enter together.  And if you are trying to be discreet, why would Kirby sit on Jeff's lap while he makes a phone call to Colby Co.'s pilot to take the two to Reno to elope.  Whatever, either way they manage to sneak off.

No one will notice that!

Then, we have Blake finally convincing Steven to return to Denver to see his child.  Steven, smartly, questions whether he is even the father of the child.  Blake claims it is his child because it looks like Steven.  This is before the Maury Povich Show  because we all know looks don't mean a thing.  So, Blake calls Krystle and Fallon to speak to Steven.  The two woman and Joseph are all dressed for bed.  Okay.

How romantic!

How romantic!

Krystle must have gotten dress to go to Alexis's penthouse to tell her the good news and that Steven's homecoming will be at the mansion the following evening.  It's kind of scary because the two of them are actually civil.  We know that won't last.

Krystle then returns home and Joseph is awake and dressed worried about where Kirby and Jeff are.  What the hell time is it now?  This must be the longest night in Colorado history.  Joseph should care where Kirby and Jeff are because at that moment, the two are having a beautiful ceremony in Reno.  Jeff really should become a frequent card member for elopements since this is number two for him.  During their wedding night, Kirby asks Jeff if he loves her as much as he loved Fallon on their wedding night.  That isn't weird at all and really does set a bad tone for the marriage.

Adam is making headway tracking the AWOL Denver Carrington Board Members and the meeting is scheduled for the following week (gee, just like the seven days that Blake had planned).  Alexis is excited, but she is even more excited for Steven's return.  Steven's homecoming is touching as he is greeted by the staff, Fallon, Alexis and Adam (Blake filled him on the plot lines from Season 3 so far on the trip back other than Sammy Jo's offer to sell Danny.)  In the middle of Blake's speech, Krystle descends the steps as a white knight carrying Steven's child.  The father and son moment is touching.

Blake hopes that with Steven becoming a father and all that Steven will put aside the animosity he has for Blake.  Fat chance of that happening Blake.  But we will return to that before we tie up the loose ends.  BTW, no one seems to care that Jeff and Kirby are still gone.  Maybe they will in the next episode.

Now that Alexis is aware that Mark and Fallon are interested in one another, she wants Mark for herself.  Alexis shows Mark that she is wearing the pin that Mark gave her which is a sign that they are going steady.  Mark pretty much calls Alexis out for only wanting to be FWB at the time he gave her the pin.  Besides, Mark really wants Fallon.  He takes her to dinner at the St. Denis Club and then the two enjoy a night cap in his suite.  Alone, Mark tells Fallon he wants to make love to her (which is way more appropriate than what Adam does) and unbuttons the top two buttons of her blouse - those at her neck.  I guess we need to use our imagination from there.

Alexis is ready to get Steven back on her side and working at Colby Co.  Steven is not ready to work but he is interested in why Sammy Jo left Danny with Blake and Krystle.  Alexis is happy to tell Steven that Blake bought Danny for Krystle.  Steven, always thinking the worse of his father, believes that story.  Krystle tries to tell Steven that it did not happen that way.  Blake also tries to tell Steven the truth, but Steven does not believe him.  Steven still thinks the best of Sammy Jo.  I guess when you are gay you really are a bad judge of women.  Steven is going to take Danny to New York and find Sammy Jo and try to become a family.  Gee Steven, do you remember how successful you were when you went to Hollywood to bring Sammy Jo back?  It didn't go well.

Memorable Dialogue

Steven:  I saw her there naked in that studio with that creep photographer.  He could be the father.  Anybody west of the Rockies could be the father.
Blake:  He resembles you, Steven.
Steven:  Which me?  This me or the old me.

Alexis:  Oh, he didn't tell you.
Steven:  No

Alexis:  Well he swears that he didn't buy little Danny but I know that he did for Krystle - his beloved, but barren, Krystle.
