Episode 23:  Sammy Jo and Steven Marry

Based on the title of the episode, you would think the focal point would be that Sammy Jo and Steven got married.  They do, but it really is secondary in this episode.  Obviously, when Steven hit is head on the railing of the pool, it really scrambled his brain.  Not only is he very much attracted to Sammy Jo, he wants to become a race car driver.  Steven is a changed man.  And after a few hours of intimacy with Sammy Jo, Steven is prepared to marry her.  The two find a justice of the peace and wed - with a horrible wedding band.  There is time to get Sammy Jo a dress, but no time to get a decent wedding band.  Hmmm . . .

Fallon is still determined to have the abortion, but Jeff is going to watch her at every moment to make sure it does not happen.  Jeff probably should not make such a proclamation while drunk because he passes out and awakes to find Fallon gone.  You would think that Jeff would chase Fallon down at the clinic - the awesome early 80s chase music would suggest so.  Instead, Jeff goes to Cecil's office and asks him about whether it was true that he paid for Fallon to marry him.  Cecil plays it cool and says yes and also implicates Blake.  Jeff, still not chasing after Fallon, goes to Blake.  Blake admits that he was aware of the arrangement after the fact, but that he always wanted Jeff as a son-in-law, regardless of the $9 million loan.  Somehow, that does not make Jeff feel better.

No one seems to care Fallon has been drinking through her pregnancy

Fallon arrives to her appointment for the abortion hours early - that must be a personal first for Fallon.  Fallon unsuccessfully tries to get her appointment moved up.  She asks to use Nick's place to hide out and Nick agrees.  Fallon does return to the clinic at 1 and is ready to be seen by the doctor.  When Jeff confronts Blake about the arrangement, he tells Blake about Fallon's scheduled abortion.  Unlike Jeff, Blake rushes to the clinic, but is hounded by some mean looking nurse.  He sees Fallon with the doctor and suspects the worse, but Fallon could not do it.

I don't know Blake, I think she can take you

Even though she did not have any sexual intimacy with Blake, Alexis believes her time in Italy with Blake was a success.  So much so, that she enlists the services of Adrianna, a melo-dramatic psychic.  Arianna uses her tarot cards to tell Alexis of her time in Rome (she probably read the tabloids).  When Adrianna turns to her crystal ball - yes she has a lit up crystal ball - Adrianna claims to see Krystle being thrown from the horse and blames Alexis for it.  Alexis would rather stick with the cards.  Well the future in the cards are not the best, not necessarily for Alexis, but for the rich and powerful man who will marry her.  That man will expire.  Who will be the lucky winner in this foreshadowing (we all know).

 Who is the lucky winner?

Cecil (see how I lead in here) continues his pursuit of Claudia and takes her to lunch at the St. Dennis Club.  We do learn that Claudia is living somewhere's else - a place she does not like but is getting used to.  Cecil has good news about Matthew and Lindsey - the two had been in Brazil and are probably still in South America, most likely Venezuela.  Claudia is very happy.

Sammy Jo, even you could do better

Sammy Jo, even you could do better

You know who is not happy, Krystle.  She tears herself away from Dr. Nick but just hangs around the mansion waiting for Blake's arrival.  Maybe Blake would have got there sooner had it not been for the Fallon/abotion mess.  Blake tries to convince Krystle that nothing happened with Alexis, but Krystle will not listen.  Seriously, who is Krystle to judge - she could not tell Nick early in the day that she did not want to be with him.  Krystle takes her fur and drives off.  With Krystle gone and Fallon recovering, Blake tells Joseph that he and the staff can have the night off.  Blake will fend for himself, and while making coffee in the kitchen, Alexis stops by and offers to cook him dinner.  Blake is game.  Wouldn't you know it, while preparing dinner, the phone rings and Blake asks Alexis to answer it.  Who is on the other line - Krystle of course.  Krystle, in a phone booth in her fur, says nothing and hangs up and begins to cry.  Maybe if you did not drive off Krystle, none of this would happen.

Nothing will make Krystle take off her fur

Other interesting tidbits from this episode:  Logan Rhinewood squeezes Blake for the rest of the football team and may even be willing to kill Blake to get the rest.  Wow!  Who knew the team was that great.  Also, Alexis's private detective has some information about Krsytle's ex-husband.  His name is Sam Jennings and after he split with Krystle, he sold insurance for a year while living in Akron, but then his trail runs cold.  Wait until Season 3 Alexis, and you may want your money back.  Andrew also sees Alexis with Hess and has a feeling who Hess is.

Memorable Dialogue

Adrianna:  Tis not dear.  He knows you very well, very very intimately.
Alexis:  Well, that could be a regiment.
