dynasty Episode 156 - The Letter

Who knew running into a braking car can kill you?  I am sure Emily wishes that was not true.  At least she did not die right there on the street.  Before dying, Emily tells Blake to read the letter she left for him.  She also reconciles with Buck and tells Buck that Clay is his son.  Now, whether Buck actually believes that is another matter.

She looks good for getting hit by a car, I mean for hitting a car.

She looks good for getting hit by a car, I mean for hitting a car.

Where is Clay (who really cares about Bart)?  Oh, he is in Las Vegas prepared to marry his soon-to-be Baby Mama, Sammy Jo.  Sammy Jo does not want another tacky wedding.  Fortunately, they can marry you in your hotel room and that is where Sammy Jo and Clay tie the knot.  At least there was a cake.  And even better, there is a horrible circular bed with silk sheets a color I did not realize exists.

At least this husband is not gay, so that's promising.

At least this husband is not gay, so that's promising.

Clay sets the alarm for 5:55 am because he figured it would be the perfect time to have sex with his new wife.  The mood is quickly killed when Clay hears over the radio that his mother died after being hit by a car outside the Carlton.  Clay rushes home to see his father (again, where is Bart), but Buck wants nothing to do with his son.  In fact, that is what he considers Clay - nothing.  Oh, and his new wife, of course, is nothing.  But, we already knew that.  Sammy Jo convinces Clay to leave without another father-son conflict.

I wonder where these sheets are today.

Now that Sammy Jo is Mrs. Clay Fallmont, she can go forward with her plan to get back Danny.  You kind of wonder whether she spoke to Clay about this.  Anyway, when Sammy Jo learns that Steven is having Danny see a therapist for his confusion (Danny doesn't seem confused to me), Sammy Jo tells Steven that she is going to get Danny back because he would not need a therapist if it were not for Steven's confusing lifestyle decisions.

Steven is very upset with the prospect and spills his guts to the ever caring and insightful Krystle.  Krystle actually has a good idea for Steven - stop treating Sammy Jo like the gold digging tramp that she was in Season 2 (or even the gold-digging kidnapper she was last season) and treat her like an adult.  Wow, what a novel idea.  Steven, of course, will take Krystle's advice.

Forever brushing out her mullet.

Forever brushing out her mullet.

Alexis, has a better idea.  She would rather just drag Sammy Jo and her "ice cream parlor" face (whatever that means) through the mud and use her pull to stop Sammy Jo if she tries to take custody of Danny.  I have to give it to Alexis, she definitely has more pull than Clay Fallmont and the Fallmont name especially now that Bart is disgraced, Emily is dead and Buck is an alcoholic.

Danny knows an old maid when he sees one!

Meanwhile, Blake reads the letter from Emily where Emily writes that Blake should use the letter to get back at Ben and Alexis for lying at the hearing.  I always love how when one reads a letter, we hear the voice of the author, and Emily's reading is as dramatic as it gets.  In the letter, Emily admits to being with Ben the night that Blake's mother died.  Blake refuses to use the letter and drag Emily's good name through the mud.  Funny, an attorney would tell Blake that the letter is probably inadmissible as hearsay.  Whatever.  Blake will just have to find another way to get Denver Carrington and the mansion back.  This pious Blake routine is getting old.

Dominique does not like being told off

It is good to see Alexis putting in late nights at the Denver Mirror because she never did such things at Colby Co.  Anyway, Alexis is intrigued as to why Michael Culhane is in Denver and has no issue with him dating Amanda while it suits her needs.  When Adam discovers that Michael is the silent partner in Blake's crater project, Alexis offers to purchase his $50 million share in the project for $60 million.  Michael is intrigued but is not willing to sell.  Now, he is only concerned that Alexis will tell Blake he is the silent partner before he has the chance to do so.

Dominique looks so thrilled that Nick is about to kiss her

Dominique looks so thrilled that Nick is about to kiss her

You know who else has $50 million invested in the crater project - Dominique, and Dominique will not let us forget that.  Well, at least she won't let Nick forget that.  Dominique goes out to the crater project and questions Nick about some of his cost projections.  Nick does not have time to take orders from an investor and brushes her off.  Gee it is like the black version of Dex and Alexis.  But, Nick does promise to finish some memos for Dominique.

Instead of faxing the memos to Dominique, Nick decides to bring them to her apartment right as she is going to bed.  Nick knows what this is all about - Dominique is fighting her feelings for him.  As always, Dominique puts up a front.  She is such a tease.  It does not deter Nick from stealing a kiss.  But, that is all Nick is getting because Dominique asks him to leave.  Hey, your foot is in the door Nick.  Besides, who else is there for Dominique, she is pretty much related to every other male character, well except for Dex.

Amanda, you are still around?

Amanda, you are still around?

Speaking of Dex, he has taken on the new role of meddling into everyone's business.  Wouldn't you know it, Dex has had a run-in with Michael back in Wyoming.  It seems Michael uses women to get ahead in the business world.  Really?  Maybe if Dex or Amanda watched Season 1, they would not be surprised by this.  Blake tells Dex not to go to Amanda with this information.  Besides, she is not going to listen to him.  Dex does so anyway, and guess what - Amanda does not believe him.  Nice try, Dex.

It looks like they have made up, for real this time

You know who we haven't heard from yet - Caress.  It now seems Caress and Alexis are almost like real sisters.  It is a shame that Caress has decided to leave Denver.  She tells Alexis that she is afraid of Ben, who has tried to have her killed.  Shouldn't Caress be covering the black-and-white ball for the Denver Mirror?  Alexis will miss not having her sister around.  You know who may not miss her?  Ben.  Before leaving, Caress tells Ben that she is leaving Denver.  Ben could care less if Caress stays because Blake will never use the letter so Caress is harmless.  But, just in case he wants to send Caress a Christmas card, he is interested to where she is going.  Caress tells him Paris.  But, that is a lie, Caress is off to Australia.  I guess she is not that harmless, Ben.

Before Alexis is able to tell Blake anything, Michael decides to be honest with Blake.  Michael tells him that he planned to get to Blake and use Amanda for that purpose.  He also tells him that he is Blake's silent partner in the crater project, but now he wants to be Blake's true partner because he fell in love with Amanda.  For some crazy reason, Michael thinks Blake will take it well.  Blake would rather close down the crater project (don't tell Dominique that) than work with Michael.  Pissed, Blake returns to his room and pulls out the letter and tells Krystle he is going to use the letter to get back everything from them all.  Finally, Blake - common sense wins.  At the same time, was it really necessary to pull the letter from the drawer before making the announcement.  Krystle's not that blonde.

Memorable Dialogue

Alexis:  Apparently, your sister's lover has quite a past.
Adam:  Does Amanda know about this?
Alexis:  Yes, I've told her.
Adam:  Well, she's dumped him of course.
Alexis:  For about an hour.  They're back together.
Adam:  What?
Alexis:  It's called sex, Adam

Buck [to Clay]:  You're nothing and now you're married to nothing.

Sammy Jo:  Why does Danny need therapy?
Steven:  He needs help because he's been living with confusion all his life and it's finally caught up with him.
Sammy Jo:  You are the confusion, Steven, you and the interesting life you led.

Alexis [to Sammy Jo]:  Well, you finally pulled it off, didn't you?  I finally have the chance to welcome the not so pure and not so blushing bride back to Denver.

Alexis:  If you think you can insult me you little slut, you can't even make a dent.  But, I'm going to keep on firing at you because you are an easy target until you get the message.
Sammy Jo:  What message?
Alexis:  Now that you're Mrs. Clay Fallmont, don't get any ideas about getting Danny back.

Alexis:  You know what turns me on, Michael, power, strength and daring.

Dominique [to Nick]:  I'm not afraid of any man.

Blake:  I'll get everything back
Krystle:  Get it back, how?
Blake:  Emily wanted me to use this letter.  I'm goint to use it.  I'll get them, I'll get the whole pack of them.
