dynasty Episode 149 - Focus

No surprise here, Blake and Michael bring Krystle to safety.  She suffered a pretty bad concussion but looks amazingly well.  Problem is that Phil Thorpe is still out there and he is determined to kill Blake's wife as revenge for the death of his beloved, Evelyn.  Hell, Thorpe even manages to call Blake in Krystle's hospital room to let him know that.  The police are pretty incompetent and are unable to locate Thorpe.  Funny, the best way to find a man determined to do harm to Blake and Krystle is to have cops near Blake and Krystle.  Too bad, none of them thought of that.

Blake is going to hurt his back dragging Krystle like that.

Meanwhile, Alexis continues to delude herself that all she needs to be happy is continued revenge on Blake.  She is not done ruining him.  Dex would hope that Alexis would just let it go, but Alexis cannot.  I wonder if Alexis remembers how annoying everyone found it when she would just show up at the mansion because everyone is now doing that to her.  At least Ben lives there and is managing to annoy his nephew Adam.  Ben catches Dex and Alexis kissing and wants Dex out of Alexis's life.  Ben takes credit for reinstating Colby Co's contact with Lex-Dex and tells Dex to stay away from Alexis.  Like that will happen.

Blake is going to make that money back!

Blake is going to make that money back!

Now a member of the press, Alexis feels she can just show up at Blake's press conference where he is going to give his side of the story regarding the fire at La Mirage.  Blake does mention that three kids of his were at La Mirage at the time of the fire, so why would he set it?  Exactly, and let's not forget that Dominique, his sister, had her engagement party at the same time.  None of this seems to deter Alexis who is going to use the power of the press to force the District Attorney to indict Blake for arson and murder.  And, Alexis will also speak directly to the D.A. if she has to.

Apparently, Alexis is the only member of the press who does need to take notes!

While strolling through the Carlton, Dominique is stopped by this man, Gary Tilden, who wants to work with Dominique in making a new album and some videos.  Dominique is intrigued but she has no time to discuss the deal at the moment.  In case you all cared, Jackie is doing better in the hospital in Los Angeles.  Tilden does not just have business with Dominique.  He also seems to have been the person who bankrolled Michael after he left Denver.

Michael should have let Amanda fall

Michael should have let Amanda fall

Tilden does not know why Michael wants to be Blake's chauffeur but figures it is a plot to humiliate Blake for the beating he took in Season 1.  How is he going to humiliate Blake?  By bedding Amanda.  Wait, wasn't the bedding of Fallon the cause for that beating.  It will not be hard for Michael to bed Amanda, especially if Amanda keeps insisting on changing the light bulbs on her own and falling into Michael's arms when she trips.  Blake is well aware that Michael has designs on Amanda and he warns Michael to stay away or else he will drive him out of Denver - for good.

Dominique saves Blake's ass again

Alexis also uses the press conference to remind Blake that he owes Colby Co $50 million.  Gee, I wonder where Blake is going to get that kind of money.  I seem to recall there was a time that Blake had to pay Alexis money when she owned the mortgage on his mansion and Blake took the money he received from Dominique to pay it off.  Well, wouldn't you know it, Dominique just sold Titania Records to Zach Powers for $50 million and she wants to use the money to invest in Blake's newest venture, Carrington Ventures.  After a little coaxing, Blake accepts the money and promptly pays Alexis.  Under normal circumstances, Blake would just drop the check off at Alexis's office, but why do that when he can just stop by Alexis's bedroom which she just redecorated.

Blake is not happy with Alexis

Blake warns Alexis that he is keeping score and he is going to get back at her for everything she has taken from him.  Blake is full of threats.  Earlier, he even threatened to kill Alexis if something happened to Krystle as a result of Thorpe's vendetta.  Alexis seems non-pulsed about it and spends more time combing her hair than actually running her companies.

Alexis is such a sucker!

After Alexis's little antic at Blake's press conference, Steven decides he is going to take Danny and move into an apartment.  He does not want to live in the mansion.  Steven also does not want to tell Sammy Jo where he is moving because she stops by the mansion and learns that Danny is gone.  Since Sammy Jo is at the mansion, she decides to harass Alexis, who is combing her hair.  The two spar and Alexis is about to slap Sammy Jo, but Sammy Jo blocks it.  Way to go!

Mirror Mirror on the wall. . .

In addition to blocking Alexis's smack, Sammy Jo still wants Clay to tell his mother about the Arabian.  It must have slipped Clay's mind, but Sammy Jo thinks Clay is embarrassed by her so she kicks him out of her bed and her home.

Nice catch!

Nice catch!

I realize this recap is disjointed, kind of like this episode.  Did you know that Blake's mother left him a piece of land in her will?  I guess Ben got the shaft - again.  Anyway, Blake knows there is something valuable in that land because he can feel it in the dirt.  He takes Krystle out there and pays homage to his mother while crying out for the land to give him something.  It is all so inspiring.

Next time Krystle will remember to ask who it is first

But, before Blake can do anything with that land, he needs to make sure that Thorpe is caught.  While caring for Kristina, Krystle hears a knock at the door.  It is Thorpe and he has a gun.  Thorpe is sweating and whining about Evelyn (I think she lucked out by dying in that fire).  Ever the pillar of goodness, Krystle tries to befriend Thorpe and talk him out of killing her.  It works.  Blake arrives just in time to see that Krystle got the gun from Thorpe, who is now a basket case.  As Blake calls the police, Krystle comforts the man who tried to kill her on multiple occasions.

Krystle talks her way out of death

Krystle talks her way out of death

A few hours later, more police arrive and want to talk to Blake down at the station.  Blake believes it is about Thorpe, but it is not.  The District Attorney now suspects arson and the police want to question Blake about it.  The shit just got real.

Memorable Dialogue

Dex:  You think you have everything in the world, but you don't.  You're missing two things.  One is love
Alexis:  Oh, what an over used word.

Blake:  Now, I can take anything you can hand out, anything.  But, if Krystle doesn't come through this, I'm going to finish what she stopped me from doing. . .I'm going to kill you.

Krystle:  You weren't invited, Alexis.
Alexis:  This is a press conference, isn't it?  And since I own the Mirror, I am the press.

Alexis [to Ben]:  If you're lost, I'll draw you a map to your room.

Sammy Jo:  Well, where did they move to, Alexis?
Alexis:  I don't know, you'll have to ask Steven.  I don't give out addresses.
Sammy Jo:  In case you've forgotten, Danny is my son.
Alexis:  Yes, I know - poor little thing, that's a cross he'll just have to bear.

Alexis [to Sammy Jo]:  You trashy little slut.
