THe colby’s episode 19 - “the honeymoon”
Well, it only makes sense for the honeymoon to follow the wedding. This, of course, means there will be some boring scenes from Jeff and Fallon’s honeymoon in Jamaica. There is only one interesting development - an appearance by Mrs. Thomas from “What’s Happening” as a fortune teller, Odessa. I know, I know - we have been here before when Alexis visited a fortune teller in Season 2 of Dynasty. Odessa is pretty much accurate with Fallon’s past (which she could have easily read in a newspaper) and has warnings for the future. She sees bad times ahead for the two men in Fallon’s life - Jeff and Miles - and she sees blood. Hmmmm . . . what could that mean?
It looks like Miles will be spending a few days in jail. Any hopes of getting the Assistant D.A. on the case - John Moretti - to agree to bail is unlikely since Jason backed Moretti’s opponent in the last election (they elect Assistant D.A.’s?). Oh, Jason has a political enemy. Good times. To ensure that Miles gets bail, they even delay Miles’s bail hearing to get a more fair judge.
Jason believes that Zach is responsible for pointing the police in Miles’s direction for the murder of Mahoney. Jason is also not happy that Zach was able to make that side deal with Blake. Zach offers to ship the oil to San Miguel Harbor for Jason until the injunction is lifted. Jason refuses and informs Zach that he is shipping the oil to a different port and is having it drove to the pipeline. Yes, it may be costing Jason a fortune, but he will not allow Zach to force his way into this deal.
As expected, Sable is not taking the arrest very well. She is scared and wants Jason to hold her. Intentional or not, these kind of matters bring parents closer. Could this allow Sable and Jason to reconcile? The odds are better now that Frankie can join Roger in Singapore. Oh wait, that will not be happening. Roger returns to L.A. and tells Frankie there will be no posting in Singapore. Frankie assumes it is because of the scandal that she has caused. Roger thinks that Jason was responsible for the Singapore posting in the first place. Frankie does not want to ruin Roger’s career and she instantly raised the prospect of divorce. Roger puts the ball in Frankie’s court - he won’t contest a divorce but he won’t file for one either.
What will Frankie do? Connie has a bright idea - Frankie should come stay at the Colby mansion now that Fallon will be moving out of the pool house. What the hell is wrong with Connie? She really does lack common sense. Sable is really going to love to have Frankie staying at the Colby mansion. Connie tells Frankie that Frankie has every right to be there since she is family. Connie tells Sable the same thing and if Sable does not like it, she can move out. Sable will not take the bait, but she did have someone cut down Connie’s favorite willow tree.
Meanwhile, Frankie has to ask Jason whether he was responsible for Roger’s assignment in Singapore. Jason tells her that he did not, and Frankie believes him. That means only one person can be responsible - Sable. Showing the poor judgment she is infamous for, Frankie decides she needs to talk to Sable. Sable cannot believe that Frankie would even consider moving to the pool house. As always the sisters fight. At least the fight gives Frankie the opportunity to decide that she will take Connie up on her invitation. Great move, Frankie.
So, Bliss and Sean left the wedding early in order to go to Los Vegas and elope. Great judgment there Bliss - I wonder which aunt she gets it from. The two do not make it to Los Vegas that night and decide to stay at a hotel. The following morning, while in bed, Bliss sees a television story about Miles’s arrest (why is the TV on?) and tells Sean that they must return to Los Angeles - the family needs her. Do they? What exactly will Bliss do? When the two return to the mansion, Bliss promises Sean that she will tell Jason that they are getting married. Sean wants Bliss to return to him that night - but she cannot - she has to be there for the family. Sean is not thrilled. Chill, dude.
Bliss is not the only one to put her life on hold for her brother - Monica does to. At least Monica can actually be somewhat helpful as she is an attorney. Granted, she is not a criminal attorney - but that fact does not stop her, or Garrett, for that matter. Anyway, Monica cannot be there for Wayne’s eye surgery in Boston. Wayne is understanding and when Wayne comes back, he will be able to see Monica for the first time.
Monica explains the preliminary hearing process to Miles. Miles is holding something back and Monica can sense it. There is something he wants to say, but just won’t Monica tells her mother that Miles is hiding something. This causes Sable to remember tending to Miles’s wounds following his fight with Mahoney. Later, Miles confides to his mother that he blacked out after his fight with Mahoney and that he very well could have killed him. Showing some common sense, Sable tells Miles to keep quiet about that. Never speak of it again. Miles also should never had said anything where he was - those conversations (unless with an attorney) can be monitored.
At Miles’s bail hearing, the judge, Judge Harmond, sets bail at $100,000. Moretti objects and believes that Miles should be held without bail because of his prior offenses and he is being charged with a capital offense. Garrett counters that those prior offenses were misdemeanors and that he comes from a reputable family, and is not risk to the community. Judge Harmond sides with Garrett and bail is granted Afterward, Jason tells Moretti that he will not use Miles as a stepping stone to becoming D.A. Moretti assures Jason that he has the evidence against Miles - he has the murder weapon and it has Miles’s name all over it (whatever that means).
Memorable Dialogue
Jason (to Zach): You believe me. If I find your hand in this, as God as my witness, I’ll cut it off.
Sable (to Connie): Oh, by the way, you know your favorite willow tree? Well, Mr. Malarno said it had blight. So, I had it chopped. These things happen with old age. It really improves the view.
Sable (to Frankie): No one, not even you, could be that insensitive, or am I over-reacting. But, after all, you are my sister and granted, you had a child with my husband - but no hard feelings, let’s just roll out the hideaway bed. Or, better still, should we just put a cot in Jason’s office.
Frankie: To hurt Roger - an innocent bystander.
Sable: Oh, no bystanders for you, hey, Frankie. When you strike, you go straight for the family, don’t you? Well, I know what you’re after. I know and I’m warning you. Stay away from my house. If you don’t, by God, I’ll make you wish you had.
Frankie: I’m glad we’ve had this little talk. I wasn’t sure before, but you’ve convinced me. You got yourself a houseguest.
