the colbys episode 26 - “no exit”
Sable storms out of Zach’s bedroom probably because she feels like the whore she kind of was at the moment. Sable tells Zach that she is no whore but Zach is adamant that he will not lie for Sable or do anything to allow her to get Jason back. I am being a little too harsh on Sable, she is probably embarrassed by what she had done. Things get no better for Sable as she returns home wearing a fur and nothing else (she wouldn’t even let poor Henderson take her coat for her).
Meanwhile, Jason is still in the guest house with Frankie. It is kind of hilarious that Jason has to be in the guest house to spend anytime with the woman that he claims he loves. Frankie and Jason act like they are capturing some lost magic that they had 29 years ago. What the hell is up with that? Wasn’t it a one night stand? Further, what is Jason talking about when he says he has felt empty all those years. Dude, you are married to Frankie’s sister and had three children with her. Is he seriously saying that his last 29 years were empty because all he wanted was Frankie. As one can see, I have absolutely no sympathy for these two and could care less whether they are happy. In fact, I prefer that they are not.
Believing the rain to have let up, Jason decides he should return home - which is nothing more than crossing the yard to the main house. As he is about to leave, Frankie gives him one last kiss at the door. Sable sees this from her bedroom. The rain begins again and Jason is too afraid to get wet so he decides to spend the night in the guest house.
The following morning, Frankie and Jason are enjoying breakfast by the pool. When Jason decides that it is time to change for work (a shower may be nice too), Sable confronts her sister. The fight between the two is awesome with Sable calling Frankie a walking ad for adultery. Frankie tries to counter that Sable is just as guilty, but Sable will have none of it since at least it is not with her sister’s husband. As always, score this one for Sable. Frankie is always odd in these confrontations. She acts like she has some guilt about what she has done but seems to relish in the fact that she got Jason from Sable. Frankie is lucky that Sable did not strike her with that riding crop she was carrying. That would have been awesome except for the fact that Sable may already be in some legal jeopardy.
Sable is having second thoughts about continuing her accusations against Jason, probably because Zach refuses to help her. Even though Sable has an attorney, she asks Monica - another attorney - for her advice. Monica tells her mother to go to Moretti, tell the truth and ask for his mercy. Yeah, that may be great advice as a daughter, but horrible advice as an attorney. Sable goes to Moretti and recants her story. When Moretti realizes that Sable actually made up the story about Jason, he pretty much threatens her to keep with her false story. If Sable is determined to recant, then she will face jail time because Moretti is going to send one Colby to jail. Bad move by Moretti - that is very unethical. He better hope no one finds out about that conversation.
Sable really is in a bind. Fortunately for her, she goes to her actual lawyer, Arthur, who tells Sable that he can keep her out of jail by claiming that she had diminished capacity at the time she made the accusations against Jason as a result of the shooting and her falling down the stairs. (If you think about this for a while, it is a pretty sexist thing.) The only problem is if Sable had signed a written statement. Sable had not since Moretti had no time to draw up such a statement because he needed to arrest Jason right away. Apparently, Moretti did not ask for the written statement after the fact. Great job Moretti.
Fallon is still haunted by the fact that Miles could be the father of her unborn child. She still has not had the opportunity to tell Jeff and another opportunity is lost when she tries to have lunch with Jeff but Jeff is meeting with the EPA. No worries, Miles is there to take her to lunch. This will not be awkward at all. Of course not, especially as Miles talks about how he wishes he was a father and that he should have started having children with Fallon right away as Sable had suggested. This is just too much for Fallon who excuses herself.
Later that day, Fallon does finally tell Jeff that Miles could be the father of the child and acknowledges that Miles had raped her. Jeff has been there before. Jeff is dying to confront Miles (just as he had Adam), but Fallon convinces him to keep quiet because she does not want Miles to know that he could be the father. Jeff agrees but find it difficult to hide his contempt when Miles tries to talk to him later. Jeff flies off the handle over something stupid and Miles is picking up that the two of them are hiding something.
A shame Miles cannot pick up any vibes from Channing. At dinner with Channing, Miles can only talk about Randall/Fallon and it is a real turn off for her. Even after Miles kisses Channing to convince her that he no longer has feelings for Randall/Fallon, Channing is having none of it. But what game is Channing playing. When she enters her hotel room, her uncle Lucas is there and asks for an update on her work with the Colbys. Channing says she is still working on it and suggests Miles is her target.
Channing finally meets with Sable to set up a schedule for the photo shoot for the Colby Collection and the mansion. Sable offers Channing the mansion for a day or two, whatever time she needs. Channing likes to be more hands on and would prefer to spend a few days living in the mansion to get a real feel. Channing has such perfect timing - it is a good thing there is no drama at all. Sable tells Channing that they should be able to work something out next week for her to stay at the mansion. That should be fun.
Dominique is in town to sell Titania Records. Blake is in financial trouble once again and Dominique needs money to bail Blake out once again. Dominique tells Monica that she will make sure she is protected when she sells Titania, but Monica wants to talk to Dominique first about her role at Titania. Monica is unable to tell Dominique what she wanted at that time because Sable needed her. Monica really could not finish that conversation with Dominique.
Garrett pays Dominique a visit to hopefully patch things up after that disaster of an engagement party. Garrett asks about Jackie (who is hospitalized as a result of the fire at La Mirage) and Dominique tells Garrett she is doing well and he can see her if he would like. Wait, so Garrett returned to Los Angeles while his daughter was hospitalized with serious injuries? Real Father of the Year material there. Dominique makes it clear that she can never trust Garrett again and Garrett finally accepts that he and Dominique will never be together. As a result, Garrett asks Jason if he can lead the New York Office since he has nothing for him in Los Angeles or Denver (other than his daughter - still Father of the Year). Jason gives the position to Garrett - so we can assume Garrett’s time on The Colbys has come to an end.
Jason believes that Zach is the one forcing Sable to press charges against him. Jason is finally able to confront Zach in his apartment but Zach tells him that he was not going to lie for Sable, and that Sable is doing this all on her own because she hates Jason. Meanwhile, Arthur is able to get Moretti to drop the charges against Jason without pursuing charges against Sable although Jason can still press charges against Sable. Sable needs to smooth things over with Jason to prevent that.
Jason returns home after being informed by Garrett that the charges had been dropped against him. Garrett takes credit for it even though he did not do a thing. Anyway, Sable does not know that Jason knows and tells him that she told Moretti the truth. Jason rambles on about lies and all that - completely ignoring his own lies. Jason knows Sable only changed her story because Zach would not lie for her. He wants Sable out of the house the next day. Sable will do him better, she is leaving that night.
As Sable is leaving, Frankie decides she needs to talk to Sable since she is her sister. What? This can’t be a good idea. Sable seems gracious enough and wishes Frankie good luck as she is about to walk out the door (Sable totally forgets to mention that she invited Channing to stay next week). Sable stops before the open door and passes out. Got to love it! Jason carries Sable away as he tells Frankie to call the doctor. Good luck indeed, Frankie!
Memorable Dialogue
Sable: Well, I must say husband stealing agrees with you, darling. You are a walking ad for adultery. Do they need a poster child?
Frankie: You can’t steal what’s already lost. You know the rule, Sable - finders, keepers.
Sable: Yes, I’ve been trying to find your keeper for years, darling. No man is safe.
Frankie: What about you? I gather you were busy yourself last night.
Sable: Not with my sister’s husband. My God, Francesca, have you no shame?
Jason: I’ll ring you, Zach, and hang you out to dry on every front page in the country. You think you can survive that kind of scrutiny.
Zach: Go ahead. Dig deep. Bribe my executives, my servants, my mistress. I think you know where to find her.
Jeff: I don’t have to explain anything to you. You just stay the hell out of my marriage.
Miles; Me? And your marriage? What’s the matter, Jeff? The ratings came in and I’m ahead.
