dynasty Episode 28 - The Party
Blake continues to fake his blindness. He also continues this ridiculous charade of taking off and on his blind man glasses. Are sunglasses really necessary while in bed at night? Can you not read things, like that letter, with your sunglasses on? That stupid letter is so upsetting to Blake that he carries it with him everywhere and reads it when he is bored. It's not like the letter is going to change. Do you really need to keep reading it over and over? Blake will keep reading that letter until he can be certain either way whether there is anything between Krystle and Nick.
Sammy Jo really is becoming insufferable. Joseph brings a fur to Krystle, who did not order a fur. She pulls the mink out of the box and sees Sammy Jo's initials embroidered on the inside. Krystle calls for Sammy Jo and tells her that Blake will not pay for the fur and that if she wants anything that it must be run through her. Sammy Jo refuses to listen to her aunt. I mean, how can you respect a woman who will not sleep with her husband. I don't see the connection but it was a good zinger.
After Steven tells Fallon that he is planning to leave the house with Sammy Jo because it is no longer fun living there (when was it fun for Steven), Fallon promises to get to know Sammy Jo and even offers to throw a party for the two. Blake agrees to having the party at the mansion. Alexis, who would rather Steven be gay than with Sammy Jo (I second that), agrees to attend the party. It also gives her an opportunity to act like the mistress of the house. An opportunity Krystle does not take kindly to. Krystle is prepared to fight Alexis and her little antics.
Cecil is pissed that Blake offered to adopt Jeff and make Jeff a Carrington. Cecil tells Blake as such. Blake feels that is one of the best decisions he ever made. Besides, the decision is Jeff's. Cecil only wishes Blake could see so that he could see him beat him to a pulp. I guess Cecil has enough honor not to beat a blind man - but not much else. Cecil is pretty ruthless.
After his meeting with Blake, Cecil helps himself onto the grounds of the Carrington Estate (don't they have guards) as he awaits for Alexis in her studio. Cecil enlists Alexis help to stop Jeff from becoming a Carrington. Alexis has a better idea - afternoon sex. Cecil is down with that! If Cecil had only heard Adrianna's warnings. When does Cecil have anytime to work? And, why can't they do this at his place? I mean, as of yet we don't know where Cecil lives, but it has to be nice.
Fallon did a great job of putting together the party for Steven, which really serves as nothing more than a party for Blake. Does Steven have any friends? Not a single person from Princeton. Anyone? Didn't he have gay friends in New York? Oh, Claudia does attend. Claudia looks stunning in purple (which really is the color of this season). The two really don't say much as Steven needs to attend to his wife (more on that later). Alone, Claudia is cornered by an unhappy Cecil (Alexis's date). Claudia did not provide what he was looking for. Cecil needs the shale oil extraction procedure. Claudia does not have access to that information - Jeff has it under lock and key. Cecil has a solution for that, seduce Jeff (he is lonely) and get the information. Brilliant! What a coincidence, Claudia catches Jeff as he is alone and vulnerable after learning about Nick and Fallon. Jeff invites Claudia to the St. Dennis Club and she readily accepts.
Sammy Jo is not happy with the pink dress that she and Krystle had picked out for the party. I would not either, it really looks like something for a prom. Sammy Jo does like the ruby and diamond necklace she "borrowed" from Fallon. Also, Sammy Jo purchased a more flattering, read sexy, dress for the party. No one is thrilled that she is wearing that. And, Alexis is less than thrilled when Sammy Jo starts making a spectacle of herself on the dance floor. Where is Steven to stop this? It is really not that bad, but these people are kind of snotty.
Nick gets the job as the psychiatrist at the hospital. The administrator would prefer he would be a surgeon. Truth is, Nick's hand was not injured that prevents him from doing surgery - it is psychological (what a coincidence). Nick cannot do surgery because he does not want to. That does not stop the administrator from calling Nick in to aid in surgery. Nick does so and he feels alive again. I guess surgery is like riding a bike - you never really forget. He tells Fallon, at the party, that he is excited to be a surgeon again.
Maybe the two should have seen who was in the room after expressing their love for each other - because Krystle happened to be sitting in the dark in one of the chairs. When Nick tells Krystle that he still has feelings for her, Krystle rejects him and tells him she is glad she was not unfaithful. Blake overhears this and is pleased. In fact, Blake is so pleased that he miraculously recovered from his faked hysterical blindness. Krystle is happy Blake can see again and Blake is willing to be a husband again. How nice! I guess manipulation can work.
Fallon finally finds Sammy Jo alone and reads her the riot act about stealing the necklace. Kind of drunk, Sammy Jo lets Fallon know that Blake is not her father. Upset, Fallon takes Alexis for a ride to get the truth out of her. Note to self - do not get into a car with an upset Fallon. Note to Fallon - don't drive after hearing horrible news. Fallon is driving erratically and demanding answers from Alexis. When Alexis tells Fallon that her father could either be Blake or Cecil, she drives off the road and is knocked unconscious by the accident. A frantic Alexis screams for help, but then decides it would be more effective to do so if she was on the street and not the construction site.
Memorable Dialogue
Krystle: What's going on in that mind of yours?
Sammy Jo: Well maybe, Aunt Krystle, that's something for you to figure out some time - like when you're wandering around the house in the middle of the night, instead of being in bed with your husband.
Alexis: Yes, do you know something. Sometimes, I think it might had been better had Steven gone on living the gay life. At least that would have been more honest.
Alexis: Now the end - as I have always believed - justifies the means.
Krystle: Us, you and me. How I'm going to keep on fighting you, Alexis, just like you're fighting me. And when the war is over, I hope to God you remember who declared it.
Fallon: So don't bother RSVPing.
Sammy Jo: What's that mean?
Fallon: Oh nothing, I just made it up.
