dynasty episode 5 - The Chauffeur Tells A Secret
While Steven actually goes to work (after receiving some creepy photos of Ted), Blake, Krystle, Jeff and Fallon are playing tennis. Actually, only Blake and Fallon are playing tennis - Krystle and Jeff are pretty much disposable. After the match, Fallon asks if she and Jeff could live in the mansion. What else was Blake and Krystle going to say? Of course they can live there.
Krystle gives the staff the day off so she can have the mansion with Blake to themselves. Krystle tells Blake she wants to be more involved in his life, his family, and his career. Blake agrees by asking to give him a child. I guess 2 adult children are not enough. (Yeah, I know there are two more.) Krystle wants a job, so Blake asks for a child - now, we know what Blake expects of Krystle. Krystle is receptive to the idea. Not much of a feminist there.
You know who will probably be a feminist, Lindsay. She has a male classmate over to rehearse lines. Since he is a young teenager, he really only has one thing on his mind - some necking. Lindsay was hoping for just cookies and listening to some Supertramp. When the boy pushes Lindsay too far, she knocks over a lamp and the boy leaves, but not before accusing Lindsay of being as crazy as her mother. Upset, Lindsay takes Claudia's car and heads off to the oil rig - Walter probably should not have taught her to drive. Walter advises Lindsay to talk to her mother. Lindsay is apprehensive but Claudia senses it and pretty much gets Lindsay to open up. There is no need to worry Lindsay, you won't have a break down, like Claudia.
Claudia is doing better and thinks that she and Matthew will make it. There is one hang up, though. Claudia knows that Matthew and Krystle had something in the past - she sensed it at the dinner party. Still, Claudia has some feelings of her own - for Steven, even though she knows Steven is gay. In fact, Claudia does not care that Steven is gay and she admires that he is so open with who he is. Matthew invites Steven over to dinner, probably to assuage him because of all the crap he is getting at work. The dinner goes well. Lindsay likes Steven. Of course Matthew should have no fear of leaving his wife alone with Steven. Jokes on you Matthew. There is this weird attraction between Claudia and Steven and the two end up kissing. Odd!
Michael keeps getting himself involved with everything. He tries to put a move on Fallon, but Fallon refuses him. She will not cheat on Jeff. Michael knows something is up, and actually gets the information from Cecil's secretary during a lunch of pizza, wine and sex in a cheap motel. With that information, Michael tells Blake that Fallon married Jeff so that Cecil would bail him out. Blake is enraged. He has been able to claw his way back before and did not need Fallon. Krystle didn't want to be part of this conversation but Blake informs her that she wants to be a part of this madness called a family, then sit and enjoy it. Fine, Fallon will end her marriage to Jeff. No, Blake won't allow that. Fallon has no choice - she had better make this marriage work. Fallon offers up Steven - but Blake knows that is a non-starter. Enjoy marital bliss Fallon.
Memorable Dialogue
Steven: What is this Blaisdel, be kind to a faggot week.
Blake: What makes you think I haven't been able to claw my own way back from setbacks before. I've gone to Congressmen and kings and dictators and mob bosses when I needed help. And, I got it.
Fallon: Alright, I sold myself . But, let me tell you that I'm ready to let the brass ring go. I have since the first night I put it on.
Blake: You keep that on and you stay married to that young man. You make that thing work.
Fallon: Thing. That's exactly what it is - a thing.
