the colbys episode 33 - “and baby makes four”
Miraculously (of course), Jeff is able to retain his grip on Miles long enough for a couple of security guards to help pull Miles to safety. You think almost dying would calm Miles. Of course not. He is still angry. To be fair, you really cannot blame Miles. I mean, what was Fallon and Jeff’s plan? Wait until the baby was born and run the test? What if they run the test and Miles turns out to be the father? Say nothing? Nah, they were going to keep it a secret probably forever, but Sable Drew ruined their plans.
Now that everyone knows the truth, Channing feels even more insecure. Miles could be the father of the baby that the woman he truly loves is carrying. And Miles does not help the situation by pulling away from her. Channing pleads with Fallon to go to Denver for a little bit just so that she and Miles can save their marriage. Strange, Frankie previously thought that was a good idea. Fallon counters that her home is in Los Angeles and her going to Denver would not change anything (probably true). Miles interrupts the conversation and takes Fallon’s side. You should always take the side of your spouse. (Ask Blake following the fight at the lily pond.) Way to go Miles, now Channing is determined to leave.
Miles does not care about that. He is only concerned about protecting his rights with respect to the baby - even more so after Fallon threatens to abort the child. Odd, Fallon almost tore off Jeff’s head for suggesting an abortion. Fallon clearly was not serious, but Miles does not know that. He speaks with Arthur who tells Miles of his rights. He is the presumptive father if the child is conceived while he was married to Fallon. (Interesting side note, Fallon and Miles had an annulment which means there was never a marriage. Not sure if that changes matters but it may make an interesting law school question.). Miles is determined to protect his rights - Fallon and Jeff will not steal a child from him.
Instead of being an adult and telling Kolya why she can no longer see him, Bliss just ignores him and refuses to tell him about her conversation with Anna. Kolya somehow manages to sneak onto the Colby Estate. Amazingly, Kolya knows exactly which room is Bliss’s. The two are about to make love when everyone realizes that Kolya set off the alarm system. Instead of just staying with Bliss, Kolya thinks he can sneak his way off the property. No such luck, as Jason, gun in hand, finds him. Jason realizes that the Russians will never allow Kolya and Bliss to be together so he decides he will keep them apart himself. Jason can interfere with Bliss but turns a blind eye to Miles.
Jason’s secret meeting with the Soviets in Brussels is moved up. Cash recommends that Jason bring Frankie with him. Strange that Jason would not consider bringing his Chief of Protocol. Frankie at first does not want to go because of the issue with Jeff and Fallon’s baby (seriously, what is Frankie going to do other than decorate the nursery), but will go as Jason’s employee. I wonder why this matter. Oh wait, later Sable asks Jason’s secretary to put a gala to attend on his calendar but Jason cannot make it because he will be in Brussels. Zach enters and then invites Sable for a few days away and asks her to choose the place. Who wouldn’t pick Brussels (as my European friends have assured me is boring as hell)? I think Jason would rather deal with the Soviets than Sable.
Adrienne and her son Scott arrive in Los Angeles to be with Cash. Monica meets Scott and the two instantly hit it off over their mutual love for space and astronomy. Adrienne does not seem thrilled about Monica getting to know Scott. Can you blame her? She knows that Cash still loves Monica and maybe Cash is planning on keeping Scott and having Monica, and why wouldn’t he since Scott is Monica’s child. What?? Oh yes, dear sweet Connie pretty much blackmailed Adrienne into adopting Cash’s bastard with Monica. It took Adrienne years to love Monica’s child and she will not give him up. Wait, Connie pawned Monica’s child off on Cash and Adrienne and did not tell Monica. Maybe Sable was right about Connie. Speaking of Sable, I wonder how she will react when she learns about this scheme. It’s a good thing Connie is hiding in Asia.
Side note here - Zach knows something about Cash/Monica/Adrienne and calls Arthur (is that even ethical) to get him to find more information about the three. And Zach hints to Monica he knows something when he speaks of everyone keeping and having secrets.
After speaking with his lawyer, Miles tells Fallon and Jeff that he has rights and wants to assert those rights. Jeff wants none of it, but does he have a choice? Miles can either go to court to get those rights or the three can just have a child together before a paternity test can be done. Fallon does not want to go to court (smart move). It looks like they are having a baby!
Memorable Dialogue
Jason: Breaking in, sneaking into my daughter’s bed. Not in my house.
Sable: Just in the pool house. You must think the girl is blind or are your standards different for the rest of us.
Sable: And you, stealing my husband, lying about whose son Jeff is, helping those two deceive Miles about the baby. Oh, they shot Mata Hari for less.
Frankie: If she had a sister like you, she’d have volunteered.
Sable: Anywhere?
Zach: Just name it.
Sable: Alright, take me to Brussles.
Zach: Brussles?
Sable: Where the sprouts come from.
Adrienne: I made a bargain with her horrible aunt eight years ago and no one is going to cheat me out of it now. Not her and not you.
Cash: Monica’s aunt came to you.
Adrienne: Constance, the family dragon. You couldn’t make me take in your tramp’s baby. So sweet Connie bullied me into it. She said if I didn’t let you adopt Scott, she’d drive you out of the Senate.
Miles: Here’s to junior. It looks like the three of us are having a baby and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.
